Choosing a size for large wall art

The wall above a long sofa, a dining room, or an open stairwell can give a large piece room to stand out. Mark the dimensions on the wall before you decide, then step back and look at it with your furniture. Leave enough space around the artwork for the whole arrangement to feel comfortable to you.

Extra large canvas, with a frame or without

Canvas on its own keeps the outline simple. A frame adds another detail to consider, especially when the piece takes up more of the wall. Check the sizes and frame finishes offered for your chosen artwork, and pick the combination you want to see every day.

A few practical details for choosing your prints.

What sizes are available for extra-large canvas prints?

Extra-large canvas and framed canvas sizes include 28 × 42 and 32 × 48 inches, plus 36 × 36 and 46 × 46-inch squares. Landscape versions use the rectangular sizes rotated. These are printed-area measurements, and framed canvas adds roughly 2.75 inches to both outside dimensions.

Does the listed size include the frame?

No. The listed size is the printed area. On framed canvas, the floating frame adds about 1.375 inches per edge, making the overall width and height roughly 2.75 inches (7 cm) larger than the listed size.

How do I choose a print size above furniture?

Around two-thirds of the furniture’s width is a useful starting point, not a strict rule. Above an 84-inch sofa, that means about 56 inches (142 cm) for the whole arrangement, including frames and any gaps. Mark it out on the wall and compare it with the available print sizes.

Do extra-large prints take longer to make?

Yes. Extra-large prints take 5–7 business days to produce, compared with 3–5 for standard sizes. Courier transit adds another 2–7 business days, and peak periods can take longer.

Will my canvas print arrive ready to hang?

Yes. Canvas arrives with a fitted sawtooth hanger, or wire and mounting hardware on larger sizes. The hanging hardware is fitted before it leaves our studio.
