Perfecting Your Photo Prints, Common Mistakes to Avoid

Ordering custom photo prints allows you to personalize your space with unique art or images that truly represents your style. However, creating the perfect custom photo print involves more than just selecting a photo.

Here’s how to avoid common mistakes and ensure your custom photo prints from ItzArt turn out just right.

Low Resolution Images

The clarity of your photo is important. Ensure that the image you choose is high resolution. A common mistake is using photos that look fine on a screen but become pixelated once enlarged. Our guideline at ItzArt.ca is to use images with a minimum of 300 dpi for clear, sharp prints. However, if you don't have a high-res image and would still like to print your photo, check out our blog below on how to print low resolution photos.

Consider the Material

Different materials can dramatically affect the appearance of your prints. Whether it's canvas, metal, acrylic or photo paper, each type has unique qualities that can enhance your image in different ways. Understand the characteristics of each product available on our Custom Prints collection and match the look you are trying to achieve and durability needs.

Canvas Prints: Offer a classic, textured look that adds warmth and depth to images. Ideal for art reproductions and large displays, canvas provides a soft and inviting appearance without reflective glares.

Metal Prints: Deliver a modern, sleek finish with vivid colors and sharp detail. Metal prints are durable, weather-resistant, and work well for both indoor and outdoor settings, offering a luminous quality that can make images pop.

Acrylic Prints: Provide a glossy, polished surface that enhances color saturation and clarity, making it perfect for vibrant photographs and contemporary decor. Acrylic prints are also known for their durability and resistance to fading.

Photo Paper Prints: Offer versatility with a range of finishes from matte to glossy paper. Ideal for traditional family photo prints, providing excellent color depth and detail. Glossy finishes are great for vibrant colors, while matte is preferred for less reflection and a softer appearance.

Choose the Right Size

Size matters when it comes to custom prints. It’s crucial to consider the space where the artwork will hang. Too small and it might not capture the attention it deserves; too large, and it could overwhelm the space. We provide a variety of sizes to suit different spaces. If you are unsure, feel free to contact us via email or chat.

Mind the Crop

Cropping your image can make or break the composition of your print. Pay attention to how the image is framed during the customization process after you upload the image on our website. Avoid cutting off critical elements of your picture and ensure the focus points are well-positioned within the frame. Remember to read the instructions provided in the Upload Prompt Box. The blue area holds the original image uploaded based on the size selected, while what's in the red area is the image that will be printed.

Also, remember that a Canvas print, will have a larger gap between the blue and red area, this is to allow the image to wrap around the frame.

Color Calibration

Colors can vary significantly between your monitor or device and the final print. ItzArt.ca will review the submitted image ensuring that there are no surprises with the colors in your print.

Remember custom prints are an excellent way to bring personal flair to your home or office décor, but pay attention to the details and avoid these common mistakes. By doing so, you can ensure that your custom prints from ItzArt.ca are picture-perfect!
